Capacity Building and Sustainability
n collaboration with key partners, we have developed the following protocols to ensure the capacity building and sustainability of RRTC-EBP-VR’s focus on research and knowledge translation: the multidimensional, active process of ensuring that new knowledge gained through the course of research ultimately improves the lives of people with disabilities, and furthers their participation in society (NIDRR, 2005).
NIDRR Definition: “Increase the capacity of individuals (particularly those with disabilities) and institutions to conduct high-quality disability and rehabilitation research and development.”
RRTC-EBP VR Goal: To increase participation of rehabilitation practitioners, researchers, and students (undergraduate and graduate) of diverse backgrounds including gender, race and disability to generate an expanded output of research, scholarship and publication activities in rehabilitation leadership and in the Four (4) key domains of NIDRR research: Health and Function, Technology for Access and Function, Employment, and Participation and Community Living.
RRTC-EBP VR Goal: To actively engage the Internal and External Advisory Councils in strategic planning to maintain current RRTC functions and to expand the scope and function in related areas through continuous funding via NIDRR and other sources.
